EMERJ envisions a vibrant movement for reproductive justice.
Reproductive Justice exists when all people have the economic, social and political power and resources to make healthy decisions about our gender, bodies, and sexuality for ourselves, our families and our communities.
A vibrant Reproductive Justice Movement allows us to:
- Ensure that grassroots leaders have the tools, models and resources to take action and make concrete changes in the lives of our communities.
- Build strategic alliances between communities and between movements for environmental justice, worker’s rights, or racial justice to magnify our impact for social change.
- Engage policy makers and hold them accountable for increasing the health and stability of our families and communities.
- Implement policy changes that increase access, services and human dignity for those members of our communities that have historically been ignored or targeted.
- Build and support leadership that reflects grassroots communities from around the country.
- Lift up and illuminate issues that are ignored or hidden.
- Engage our communities in examining cultural beliefs and taking action in ways that support and celebrate the diversity of sexualities, genders and families that help our communities thrive.
